ArtZone 461 Gallery is pleased to announce it is hosting an exhibition and sale of certain artworks from Art for Healing's (AfH) inventory to benefit the organization. A preview event for donors, sponsors and the press is scheduled from 5 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday March 23rd. The sale is open to the public Thursday - Saturday from noon to 7:00 pm and Sunday March 27 from noon to 5:00 pm.
Art for Healing's mission is to provide artwork for locations dedicated to wellness and healing. Works are currently placed in over thirty agencies throughout the Bay Area serving highly diverse, cross-cultural populations. It was founded in 1981 and has gathered more art than it is able to place or store at this time.
Angus Whyte, Executive Director of AfH approached ArtZone 461 Gallery last month about hosting an exhibition and sale event. Even with such short notice the Gallery could not turn down this request for such a worthy cause. Certain inventory is allowed to be sold based on regulatory or donor direction. A nice selection from the collection is offered in order to raise funds that will allow AfH to continue its mission - as it has for the past twenty-nine years.
The exhibition includes paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, and mixed-media works by Robert Bechtel, Alexander Calder, Robert Cameron, Peter Max, Gustavo Rivera and many other California, American, European and Asian artists. Steven Lopez, ArtZone Gallery Director, will curate the show - keeping an eye open for quality pieces by known and anonymous artists. AfH still accepts art donations on a case by case basis.
Purchases from the AfH’s Collection are not tax deductible. In addition, every purchase includes your choice of one of two Françoise Gilot prints from the AfH inventory.
Long-term research has proven that arts programs contribute to healing by improving the quality of life for the ill and those seeking treatment. Art also contributes to the well being of staff and visitors. ArtZone is proud to partner with Art for Healing and will continue contributing to AfH's future success and their fundraising efforts throughout 2011.
Art for Healing is a Federally recognized 501 (c)(3) non-profit, Public Benefit Corporation, Tax ID #94-3311649. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed and will be acknowledged.
